They probably would burrow during a drought, you know, microclimates....
Ours got too dry (really dry) and we heard if we got them humid they would come back alive - but, no they were dead. Just as well, I guess, because it was around that time I had learned that they were prohibited in Canada because of CFIA regs. I heard from others of theirs dying also.
The kind we had, I was told, only laid 30 eggs at a time. The eggs were huge (100 times bigger than our applesnail eggs)
