The wood hasn't been dyed. It's manzanita wood that's had the bark stripped off, and I too have had it turn out looking blue when a photo is taken in poor lighting and then I tried to correct it in Photoshop. Those are the kind of photos that I just delete.
Anyone that works with computer graphics for a living can tell that the hue/saturation/contrast are off. It could be due to poor lighting, or it could be due to manipulation in a graphics program such as Photoshop.
As for the gecko looking blue, I don't think it does. It's just that the extra blue in the photo makes it difficult to tell how much brown the animal has.
There is no such thing as a truly blue Crested Gecko. Some have a steel grey background that can appear blue in photos, but that's it. Here's an accurate photo of one of those geckos, taken in proper lighting.
