I was doing a search on the web, and I thought that there had only ever been one albino rainbow discovered, and it died in captivity right away. But, that could have been just the only brazilian albino. Then again, maybe the info was outdated!

Epicrates cenchria cenchria = Brazilian Rainbow Boa
Epicrates cenchria maurus = Colombian Rainbow Boa
Molurus Bivitattus Labyrinth = labyrinth burm

T-minus = amelanistic = lacking melanin

Heh heh, for the Burm, that would be Python molurus bivitattus. Molurus is the species name. You need to include the genus, which is Python

lol Jeff I just put that up so all us neophytes wouldnt have to look it up. I didnt add the python due to the assumption that if your on a snake site you would atleast know a burm is a python.

I do know how taxonomy works. I did a number of zoology and entomology courses in university. Anything that could help with my flyfishing

No no, Derrick, Python IS the genus name for Burms. Python includes Burms, Indians, Rocks, Balls, Retics, and Bloods. Burms are Python molurus bivitattus . That's the whole scientific name. Its like common boas, where the common name just happens to be the GENUS name as well. Its not redundant. Its the GENUS. If you are describing a species, you HAVE to include the genus. MANY MANY MANY species carry the same specific names, as that is usually descriptive. And since many species look the same or have the same characteristics, they can have the same specific and sub-specific names.

Genus MUST be included. Sorry man!

Hey Jeff "If you are describing a species, you HAVE to include the genus."

And ya I know Python is the genus, I look it all up, but both in this context and for this forum who really cares
