Bryon: How many red tails did you have in that enclosure?

I just love them, because they perch during the day and constantly move around the enclosure (presumably hunting for food) and then they go to bed when I go to bed.

I just hate looking at an enclosure that is full of decorations and no snake b/c it's hiding or sleeping.... And I love how she puffs out her throat when she gets annoyed... If she was more tolerable to handling I think she'd be my favourite snake, but right now my ETB is my fav. simply b/c it hasn't even striked at me yet.

I think the biggest mistake with keeping these guys is calling them a ratsnake. When you call them a ratsnake people tend to want to treat them like one (medium humidity etc.) . I just want to reemphasize that they are not ratsnakes, and they are not even close relatives of them. (Yes this was a very random comment, but hey I'm bored... ;-)

I kept a pair of snakes in the enclosure. I to found them to be a very active snake, which made them very interesting to watch. My experience with handling these guys has been that they are unpredictable and quite aggressive. (I have noted the puffing up of the neck as well) Mine drew blood on more than one occasion. I would have to agree that keeping red tails as you would a rat snake would eventually lead to its demise, sounds like your on the rite track. She is one beautiful animal.
