I didn't have to do anything. I just chose to so that I could see what was in the egg. They pipped on their own. I just cut a larger window to see their bodies. This should not be attempted by people who do not know what they are doing.

Hey Jeff, in my professional opinion I feel that you have too many pastels in your facility for you to cope with. I am therefore offering a home for one, maybe two, pastels which I am willing to adopt from you. I will accept no payment for taking these off your hand, the mere appreciation for me taking these off your hands is all I ask for. This is a limited time offer, so let me know when I can come pick one up. I strongly suggest that you do not seek advice from anyone on the subject, and simply trust me that this is the right thing to do.
