Congratulations! I'm sure all the reptiles will be in perfect condition after a few weeks of you working there! Good luck!

Woohoo Erin! Petstores can be fun, I hope the one you're starting with cares about the animals as well as the sales. Congrats!

Good sh*t! I have extensive experience at being unfairly fired. It's not always so easy to get back on your feet. Do yourself and those you work with at your new job a favour and unionize that place as soon as you can (assuming it isn't already)! Next time The Man screws you it might not be so painless, trust me. If you want to organize and don't know how I can give it to you step by step. Good luck and protect yourself!

When I worked at PL I would literally strip into the washing machine every night & immeadiately shower right after before even considering doing or touching anything in my house herp or otherwise. I would go as far as misting myself with NIX mix or Ivomec before even leaving the store if I had "worked" with any questionable animal(s). Protect yourself & more importantly your animals from "cross-contamination".

All tha work? I mean if you worked at the pet store, why not just treat the animals there? You're working there anyways. Kill 2 birds with one stone. You can't tell me that a pet store has so many animals that a single bottle of NIX wouldn't just treat the whole store. Got a problem, go to the source.

That's what Invictus and I were discussing last night, I bring my own Nix and treat the animals myself. I'm not too sure wether the owner or management would be too keen of me doing that though, I could always ask.

It's more than worth a shot. I'm trying to do the same thing at the store I kinda work at... they misplaced the Ivomec after they moved, and now there's a Burm with mites. The owner doesn't want to use Nix without knowing more about it... I just want him mite-free, even that means him getting more Ivo. Let me know how it goes

You should be able to convince them, since they were impressed with your reptile knowledge in the first place

Yup. That's the same routine I followed whenever I got home from work, as well as whenever I am in any stores, expos, etc. You just never know what you can bring home since even if treated for mites, these animals cannot be properly quarantined.

Except that employees may not be given that liberty, as well as NIX only treats snakes, and can be fatal if used on other animals

Well, my first day went very well, but I was POOPED afterwards. I fed all the reptiles, and gave all the reptiles and inverts water. I sure felt like I was at home. Watching the Tegus eat large F/K adult mice was AWESOME, those guys are NUTS when they chow. *L* I also got to feed the two male baby BRB's for the first time since they arrived at the store. They took F/K large hoppers like champs, and they're such SWEETHEARTS. It was nice working around something familiar as I didn't feel like a dolt on my first day. Another employee and I were working on the feedings and making SURE that all the snakes were fed well enough, we also made sure that humidty levels were perfect for the blood and BRBs. The King was my garbage disposal for the refusals, that piggie got three mice in one sitting. *L*

Erin, that is the whoe point of owning a Tegu is they eat anything and everything the ideal disposal unit from feeders to table scraps. Ok mine doesn't get table scraps, but he'd take them in a heartbeat I'm sure.

Gary

You should come to Canada and try and get a job at my store, their policy on tats and piercings is very lax. If I had all my tats showing and had orange hair, they wouldn't give a damn.
