Hey Ray,
Is it Naja kaouthia or Naja atra? If kaouthia then it is not from Fromosa Island. The golden or abbarent (much better names for the morph) kaouthia come from Tialand I bleive. Dr Wolfgang Wuster has commented on the population before. He reported that there are no kaouthia on Fromosa. Naja atra has a very similar morph which are better discribed as Fromosa Island animals because I belive they occur there but I may have my facts wrong up on that.

BTW, although I cant recall the new name, there is actually no Fromsa Island anymore!!! Its called something else now. Ill look into it. Did that animal come in on a shipment? If so, was it sent to you as a Fromosa Island kaouthia?

If that animal is one of the many CBs floating around the states then it is most definately an abbarent kaouthia (very few if any have the Naja atra abbarent morph). I actully know the guy who had a trio that produced or its offsrping produced 95 percent of the ones you see avaible today.

Welp, Ill try to get alittle more detailed info and pass it on. BTW, the egyptians are doing extreamly well and have all more then doubled their length and girth!!! They eat evrything and go nutts when they smell food. More so then any other snakes I have ever kept!!!! God I love em! Ill post a pic or 2 in the nrear future.

Gota run.

All the best bro,
Jeremy

Actually "Kaouthia" does occur on Formosa. They may have been introduced in the late 19th century. The population is not native and is limited. Most are going to show "atra" traits. (Just a note and please don't take this wrong: It's Thailand not Tialand, Formosa not Fromosa, Still considered Formosa or Ilha Formosa. (May change yet again) Most aberrant(not abbarent just helping do come from Thailand, at least they are more common. This may be due just to the larger numbers of specimens collected and sold there. Most on the island are the Atra morphs with about 3-5% of the population having aberrancies. Ray H.-I was pointing the joke at Scott with the "Damn spiitin' rednecks" response. LOL Good one though! Another Eastern Diamondback female today! 5' range. Thanks Ray G HBR

Hey there Jeremy. It is a Formosan Cobra (Naja atra). But as the other Ray (Ray Goushaw) pointed out, there are Naja kaouthia on the Island of Formosa. The snake just came in on my last Malaysia shipment. Got more 3 day old Naja haje if you need some.
Blessings
