Oh Roy you vetran you. What would we do with out ya! Seriously thanks for breaking the ice and passing along the info instead of hording it.
So if you've got the rats go with rats because it will take less to feed the snake an apprpriate sized meal, is that what you are saying? How many adult mice would it take to constitute an apropriate sized meal for a female adult in the breeding season?
Thanks again,
Trevor
PS
Now for thoes of you that were wondering why they call him "Uncle" Roy you know. Soon it will be Grampy Roy!

Trev, when I got into this crazy hobby, there were
few books and NO magazines and NO internet.
The few people that knew things, protected their info in the name of profit. It caused me great grief, and I had to figure alot out on my own.
I promised myself I wouldn't be like that if I ever stayed with it..Har har..24 years later
If you have rats, go with them man, as its more efficient... Woods and Mandic and other great breeders, aren't messing around with mice for their breeders as they buy frozen rats in mass, which is the most efficient way.
I didn't have such access to rats when I was doing Regius.
I once fed 100 mice to one female in a two month period. Those hundred mice got turned into a clutch of 8 eggs, one of the first clutches in Canada.
Ovulating Regius are absolutely ravenous, and they used to jump right out of the cage when food was coming.I got bit by many at that time.
An average clutch of eggs weighs over two pounds. They don't come from stored body fat. They convert the food almost directly to eggs.
I observed that females don't deficate during the breeding season, which is astonishing considering all the food going in. I beleive Corey has noticed the same thing. These beasts are extremely efficient.
