Get this: when I was in Kentucky I stayed a few days at a venom lab where they had freezer bags full of baby leopard geckos (normal phases that had been donated by a breeder - nobody will buy them). There were over 500 frozen baby leopard geckos. Plus, they have dozens of frozen baby albino burmese pythons (sell for $150-200 CDN here) in the freezer as well for some of the larger ophidiophages.
It's hard to believe but these are akin to the rodent-filled freezers we are all used to. It blew my mind at first too but I realize it is really just a food-stuff and is valuable in that sense.
