All my snakes have a water dish that is large enough to comfortibly soak in. I cut a hole in the center of the lid so they can fit through and this also avoids spillage. They frequently deficate in their water but I prefer that than in the enclosure. I check everyday for bowel movements. If you are keeping your humidity levels at a proper level, you should not need to soak your snake, but all the same, besides maybe being a little stressfull it should not harm him either.
