your set up and snakes are awesome! thanks for the invite on sunday. we still need to find a hollowed log for me, if you see any in the field, grab it. whats your take on the theory that gaboon and its relatives store fecal matter to act as an anchor; to allow maximum thrust when striking...- talk later...-john a

Thanks Johnny boy, You are invited any time....... Next time you are here I am sure I will have a few new additions...... My take on the theory on Bitis retaining fecal matter seems to be a pretty good one in my opinion....... Extra weight at no biological cost....... Why else would a snake hold on to as much as 20% of its body weight in fecal matter??? I know that my young gaboons do not have the same acuracy as my bigger ones and they sometimes wind up flipping back on them selves..... Its pretty cute to watch....... So from I have seen, the less the snake weighs the less controled the strike is.......
