Um I don't know how common it is because giant keepers keep it pretty hush hush when something bad happens. They hate being told "I told you so" and being wrong

I do know of a few cases where the nicest snake has done a number on someone when they thought food was coming.

About 15 years ago I knew a guy who kept a number of giants (No dwarfs at the time so serious real giants.) He hired a teen to help clean and such and he was really good. One day he wasn't paying as close attention as he should to a 17 foot extremely docile burmese and she thought food was coming. Got him good on the hand, wrapped him up pretty quick and thankfully people were on hand and saw it and reacted quickly. Left some nice bruises from the pictures we saw and he had quite the shock.

A small error could have ended horrendously. This is why I don't understand the causal nature people take with these animals.

I had heard that it was easier unwind from the tail because that's where they are the weakest...
I guess I kind of look at it like guns... I have owned guns all my life and have never made a mistake... That's because in my head it can't happen... You can't afford to make a mistake with guns... I'm the same way about knifes... I was a prep cook, Line cook, and sous chef for 5 years and never have I ever cut myself... I have to much respect for gun and knife to have an accident... The only difference here is the snake has a mind of it's own... The gun and knife don't... I think it's all about being able to read your snake and paying close attention...

You're right. Guns and knives don't think for themselves. When my friends and I shoot we keep everything pointing down range and keep a safe distant.

Snakes have little control over their neck and tails. If a snake releases it's Bute and you've got its tail where do you think the head is going? Lol

I know someone who had been keeping giants 15 years and this particular snake 10 years.

Went in on his own just once and nearly lost his foot. Doesn't matter how strong you are-by the time you have got the snake off you, particularly something with teeth like a retic, you could have sustained life changing injuries.

It isn't necessarily the constricting bit that will do the damage-the mouth full of razor blades can seriously **** your day up.

This chap will never walk properly again...
