I had a leopard gecko as it was my first reptile but he bites me all time... really nervous one. I would love to have a crested geckos by the way

Although bloods are harder to read than some and can bite out of nowhere with little warning other than a change in breathing...they are extremely rewarding and there are many docile babies you could choose from. The days of nervous, bitey imports are in the past. My advice would be to buy something in person that you could handle beforehand.

Re: My little Collection

I found one in the reptile store where i'm use to go, the guy handled it a bit, the snake was young, a bit nervous and tagged in air but it was the same for my Rainbow boa when i choose him ( which i work really often and he start to be really calm now) so i will go tomorrow and ask to handle it. He told me he have 2 others but total demons so i will go with the "calm" one... i read a lot of good and bad experiences from people, but like all snakes, it's depend of the individual and also the time we spend with.

That's very true. And what and how you do what you do with them also matters. The younger the better as well, although a recent acquisition of a full grown wild Texas ratsnake defied common logic: it only bit me once!

Good luck with your new acquisition.

Re: My little Collection

So this is the new addiction, she bites the seller but when i took her ( after walking 30mn with her in a plastic box...) she didn't even strike, a good start even if i know it won't last. Also really strange how Blood python follow you with their eyes... I don't have name for her for the moment

Re: My little Collection

I'm sorely tempted by a blood. Very nice snake you have there. Get some leaf litter in there so it can hide as it would in the wild-they look phenomenal with their head just about visible among the leaves.

Ultimately ambush snake are bloods hence the eye following. They'll not move but they are incredibly aware of what's going on.

They are really powerful too. For the moment she didn't try to bite me, i handled her a bit yesterday but she seems calm (she was biting the seller like crazy). But still, it's the first time that i'm a bit tense with a snake. Maybe because i had all my snakes when they were little and this one have a good size for a young one...
