Re: Girls and Snakes
Is that one of those super expensive morphs I started seeing at shows?
There's tons of women I see in shows. I do remember some years back that there wasn't too many but nowadays there's just as many, if not more.

Re: Girls and Snakes
Well I'm a woman and I love reptiles, arachnids, insects... pretty much any of the "underdog" animals that "normal people" hate. Being normal is overrated.

Re: Girls and Snakes
Krok: Do you mean the girl or the snake. The girl is from a African x European breeding, definitely not line bred, the snake is a naturally occurring form that occurs in the middle east.

Re: Girls and Snakes
It seems to be fairly even locally and at the local shows.
We have an FB business page for our reptiles, with 1,180 likes currently. I find the demographics section fascinating, it tells you what countries, states and cities your fans live in, breaks down the percent of which gender they are and then how many percent of which gender is in different age brackets. The age brackets by gender is really interesting.
Awhile ago the overall gender ratio was 49% women and 50% men, it doesn't break it down if there is less than a full percentage point on one side or the other. It maintained there for a really long time. After the last bunch of new likes, it is now at 46% women and 53% men.
18 to 24 year olds are equal in numbers and all other age brackets but one, are out numbered by the men, anywhere from less than a full percentage point up to 5 full points. The one group that is out numbered by the women is aged 55 to 64, at 2% women and 0.847% men.
It's a tiny sample size, with many variables, so can't really draw any conclusions but I still find it interesting.

Re: Girls and Snakes
Oh that is really interesting. I would not have guessed women trumped men in that age bracket, I was actually expecting a younger group to be the one.
[Also I believe I'm one of the women on the group, just not in that particular age group of 55-64 haha]

Re: Girls and Snakes
I wonder how it breaks down by region. The breeder I talked to is in New Mexico. I'm only assuming he was referring to cons in his area though.
It makes me happy that snakes are popular with women too. I had a sneaking hunch that might be the case, regardless of who shows up at cons in NM.
