Re: Riverrun (Poss Temp Name)
Alright, I'll hold off on feeding her until the food gets here, either that or buy her an individual weaned rat from the pet store for her next meal.
And yeah I have no clue why there was such a discrepancy in the weights. The smallest ones were 20-25 grams, most of them were in the 55-60 gram range, but the heaviest may have weighed like 72 grams or so. Even the fuzzies I got were 4-9 grams, I'm not sure if that large of a difference is normal for buying in bulk or not.

Re: Riverrun (Poss Temp Name)
4-9g sounds reasonable. Even though the difference in size within that range can be an issue for small snakes sometimes, it's acceptable considering the sheer volume of feeders that are produced by the supplier. 20 to 70, however, is ridiculous. Usually that range would be broken up into around 3 different size options.

Re: Riverrun (Poss Temp Name)
As a short update, she's just gone into shed and is in blue. So, she won't be fed until she sheds, at least. She's been coiled up in her humid hide since her shed cycle began, and was surprisingly calm when I took her out of it to re-wet her moss as it was quite dry. She didn't hiss or anything, just was a little twitchy, which is understandable.
And thanks prairiepanda. I'm not sure about 3 size ranges, but I guess it would be two at least. The largest mouse sizes they have listed on their site is jumbo mice 30-50 grams.

Re: Riverrun (Poss Temp Name)
She shed several days ago, so here are some update photos!
Once she shed, she decided she didn't need to use her humid hide anymore and instead coiled up on top of it.
Still holding out on a new camera, this phone camera is ok but the colors are really terrible.

She really does have some nice colors! She made every other normal retic at the expo look dull. Her colors even put the sunfire to shame, she was easily the prettiest retic at the show that day.
An attempt (and fail - curse you rain!!!) at capturing more of her colors.
How she spends most of her time.
The food has finally been shipped (I ordered last week but apparently Big Cheese only ships Mondays and Tuesdays), so hopefully it will arrive tomorrow or the next day. Riverrun is definitely going to be happy to finally get her rat.

Re: Riverrun (Poss Temp Name)
Well my shipment finally arrived earlier today so I went and fed everyone (except the BCI because he only ate a week ago). Riverrun was quite excited over the rat pup, bug eyes, heavy breathing, rearing her head in the air, the whole shebang. But she only hunted down the rat and coiled it when I heated the head. Took two tries, as the first time she struck she ended up not being able to find it and gave up, laying her head on her cool hide. I heated up the head again and that time she struck and almost immediately began to eat. Only snake I have that needs a hot spot.

My goldenchild needed that to start eating and my little SD seems to need it as well as that's the only time she'll take f/t (and not always then even). Different strokes for different folks(/snakes).

She didn't need to with the mice, I guess with a rat she just needs to be enticed a little more. lol At least she ate, maybe as she eats more she won't need a hot spot anymore.

Re: Riverrun (Poss Temp Name)
Good to hear! When she's digested a little of her meal, and if it isn't raining, I'll get her out to take some more pictures. There is almost no lighting at all in the apartment, and the living room doesn't have a light at all except a small desk lamp (apparently the people who built the apartment didn't feel like the common room required lighting).
