Re: What snake is right for me?

Corn snake over all other species.

King snake second.

Milksnake third.

Ball python fourth.

Kenyan sand boas fall to top 10 probably. They tend to nip or not nip. I don't have any experience with inbetweeners.

My vote is still for a King. I think it'll fit the bill nicely for what you're looking for. If you don't want to wait for the girth to come, then then get one a few years old.

Hmm....

Well, there is a large variety of ratsnakes that could fit the bill. There's also gopher/bull snakes. But you'll have to be persistent until you find one with the right personality. Some are rather irritable and have a tendency to bite. Others are as tame as corns.

Have you considered any other boas? Perhaps a rosy?

Re: What snake is right for me?

You can't go wrong with a King. They're great snakes to keep. I also agree with Fluffy Gerbil, Bull/Gopher/Pine snakes are some of the largest North American colubrids topping out around 7ft. They have some great morphs and the husbandry is super simple. Mine were a little hissy when they were younger but they're both super sweet now. The Texas Leucistic Rat snake is beautiful too but I've heard they can be a bit defensive. I want a Jungle Carpet Python next so there's another great option. Too many gorgeous snakes to choose from!
