Re: a couple of pics

Great collection, really like the bredl and etb. Cant wait to see the female. I also like the Leo tort, I've got a soft spot for torts. Are you keeping him the "wet" method?

Re: a couple of pics

ya she has a corner with moss and a shallow dish she can soak in as well. think she pretty much just poops in but its there if she wants it. dosent spend alot of time on the moss but again there if she wants it. Is that what you mean by wet method?

Re: a couple of pics

I mean keeping the humidity 80%+ in the enclosure. Usually accomplished through closed chamber enclosures or fogger/ mist sytems. The "wet" method prevents pyrimiding caused by chronic dehydration very common in captive torts. Pyramiding is a form of metabolic bone desease. All shell growth should be smooth spreading not vertical growth.

Are you soaking the tortoise?

Re: a couple of pics

The breeder I bought her from told me humidity didnt need to be that high for her Its around 65%. Ive had her around 9 months and everything seems to be going well. No pyramiding and shes got a great appitite.

The End Of Pyramiding II-The Leopards | Tortoise Forum

Check this out. There's a link to the first "end to pyramiding" thread that will shed more light on the subject aswell. I highly recommend this site to anyone with or interestd in a tortoise or turtle.
