I'm not against snakes with kids, just think a snake that large with a kid that small is a bad mix.. Had it been a smaller snake I'd have no issue with it. I also don't agree with leaving small children with dogs and cats.

Watched 5 seconds of it and.... I keep some big snakes and I'll have my first child this year. I would NEVER allow this. Chances are it'll be fine, but there's that possibility that something goes wrong and you could lose your CHILD. Why risk it? Small snakes, yes! All for it. Not giants!

Re: I want everyone's opinion on this

I can't watch the video because I'm at work, but I'm pretty sure I saw this in the news about a week ago. A father letting his 18 month old daughter around his retic (at least that's what it looked like to me).

I was against this from the get go, it's quite wreckless to allow a large animal around your child, ecspecially at that young of an age! From the pictures I saw the snake could have eaten the child if it needed to, not to mention it could probably kill the baby before the parents could stop it, and how would they have felt if that would have happened? It would have been a terrible loss for that family and a tragic event that may lead to more restrictions on larger snakes, because you know the media would have twisted it sideways.

THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS!!!

That snake could have the baby constricted before anybody knew what was happening. Cool luck getting it off before serious damage is done.

These are the people need we need the media and public to know are NOT apart of our community. They are outliers who's actions are not those of the community nor condoned by it.

There is no way in hell that snake is 13 feet. It's 8 feet tops.

Re: I want everyone's opinion on this

i think the parents are fecking idiots who cause nothing but trouble for our hobby, and should not be allowed to keep their kids, after endangering their child like that...

i would slap them if i got the chance, things like that make my blood boil...

why endanger a child like that ?

cheers shaun

Re: I want everyone's opinion on this

Irresponsible as all hell. Ugh. I saw this on my newsfeed on FB and just sighed. I know the message they were trying to get across was that snakes aren't just evil killing machines but this was NOT the way to do it. So many dangerous outcomes could have happened.

I wish people used their brains.

Re: I want everyone's opinion on this

I think it's not a good idea because babies can get sick much more easily and they tend to slobber on everything. I think maybe for a young child this would be fairly safe and beneficial. Although, I would go with a smaller snake like a ball python if I was putting it on google.

Cultural insight: where I live we say ya'll but instead typed you all. Same thing. You can even find it in the Merriam Webster dictionary. Bless your heart.

Grammar insight: It isn't needed at the end of a sentence when you've already addressed everyone. Bless your heart.

Re: I want everyone's opinion on this

I guess at this forum you can learn about more than just reptiles. Kind of like how there's always someone looking to start an argument that has nothing to do with the thread. I really enjoy this forum but I have seen some snarky people on here.
