Re: Super Hypo B.C.I 'Nicaragua'

Three years old, how long have you owned the beautiful little holy terrors? Maybe he's just getting tired of the taste of the gloves? We went to a big reptile show today, and I tried to steer Becka toward a BCI or Dumeril's, but she fell in love with a 66% het albino jungle BCC.

I have owned him since 02-13-14, so about 8 months now And he just does not like me all too much, he is a bit calmer outside the breeding season. (Still snaps, but nothing like the female)

Do you handle them daily (gradually wear down their defensive responses) or just don't worry about keeping snakes with nasty dispositions? Even if it's just a wee baby, any snake that strikes at me makes me pull my hand back reflexively. Mind over matter just doesn't have time to work there, lol.

I don't handle them more than necessary, besides for an occasional photo-shoot. This particular animal seems to be calming down, like a lot of them do with age. It has gone from striking whenever he saw me, to now an occasional strike/hiss. It doesn't matter much to me, my T+ is very Defensive (Even comes after you, its pretty funny) And i have worked with several Defensive snakes in the past, in all shapes and sizes. Only caring for laid-back snakes is nice, but i think defensive snakes are very exciting to care for and you learn a lot from it. T.b.h i think it is a part of the hobby, one that is very exciting to experience.
