Re: Who else talks to their snakes?

Ooh I definitely talk to my snake. And my cat. And any other living thing I come across. I'll talk to the trees on a walk through the local trails, and swear at the bugs invading my place. No shame.

Re: Who else talks to their snakes?

Sometimes. Usually its along the lines of:

"Just eat the stupid rat, you #$%@!!"

or

"Don't you dare bite me."

or

"@#@$%, why did you just crap all over my clean shirt?!?!"

Re: Who else talks to their snakes?

I talk to most of my animals even though they don't understand what I am saying it helps me stay in a calm mood while working with them.

Re: Who else talks to their snakes?

I love that we're tearing down the walls that hide just how crazy we all are.jk

I'm guilty aswell, not all the time. But I find I talk to gravid females, my retics(mostly moving the jamps, they can be a pain), and when snakes are striking/hissy. Mostly when snakes are acting up, I say things like "it's okay", "calm down", "I don't want to hurt you", "I know this is scary", etc...
And with the jamps its mostly: "that's not food", "don't climb that, you %*€?%", "get in the cage", and the ever familiar "how did that pile come out of you?"

Haven't had a conversation with them, but a good friend of mine does with his torts.

Re: Who else talks to their snakes?

I'm guilty of this haha. I love my snake like a child so I definitely tell her how cute she is or how proud I am when she strikes a rat pretty aggressively lol.

You folks are a riot! I laughed through this whole thread. Now you all need to get a parrot, they talk back. Oh and sometimes it's not nice.

Re: Who else talks to their snakes?

I definitely do. Earlier today, when feeding her, it went something along the lines of "What are you doing? No, you can't.. Ah, no honey, that's not going to work that way. No really, you'll want to move that. Uhm no honey. Oh. Backwards? I guess that works."

I talk to all my animals, including my fish, and call them all my babies. Then again, I talk to inanimate things, too. Earlier at work tonight a broom fell right in front of a door I was trying to open with my hands already fairly full and I went "Really? Did you really have to do that?" So I feel considerably less crazy when I talk to my snake or any of my other pets. At least their sentient.

Re: Who else talks to their snakes?

My youtube channel is full of proof of how much I talk to my snakes. It's often running commentary, and sometimes I add in what I think their commentary would be.

"Hey. Hey you. Noodle. I have your mouse, Noodle. You awake? Helllooooo?" Sigh, pick up hide, "Hey, numbnuts, do you want your food or not? What happened to that famous feeding response you guys are supposed to have? Oh there you go, now you see it. Do you waaant it? ...oh, you missed. Good job. Here. Here's the mouse. THERE YOU GO, now don't drag it through all of the substrate if you can help it."

My real confession here: my kingsnake has his own twitter account.
