Just adding to this thread...

Here is how I secure my tubs. This works on the Sterilite 1755 32 qt tubs (and any series with the same dimension "Lip" around the rim. Use 3/8 inch square dowels and a glue gun, with large binder clips:

These are the bins i use, the clips are much stronger than some of the ones shown above, they lock on as a solid bar across the lid and take a fair bit of pressure to move. Never had an escapee

@ Knox - That is a really neat idea and I will keep that in mind if I wind up using a bin.

@ aRepDysfunction - I looked at those types of bins but the lids lifted up to much for comfort in the middle of the long side on the longer bins.
