Re: New, Improved Tokay Gecko
Tokays sound like really great pets. I love the colors and that they make sounds. The sounds are what I like most about my fire bellied toads!
I would have one, but my space is very limited and I am not sure I could afford to feed yet another pet that likes live food.

Re: New, Improved Tokay Gecko
Sexing Tokays is not as easy as other geckos. The males don't always have prominant bulges like those of other species, and both male and female have the pores.
A good way to tell is simply by the size / structure of the geckos head / body in general. Males are bulls, hard to explain unless you see them side by side.
Here is a pic of my three, to give you an idea of what I'm talking about. The male is 4 years old, the girls are only two but they won't look like him at four. Do you know how old yours is?

Re: New, Improved Tokay Gecko
LOVE Tokays... by far my favourite gecko! Good luck with this one! Most in pet stores are WC and hard to get eating... if yours is a good eater, then you're golden! The pet store where I used to live has one loose in the store... she's been loose for at least ten years, and is HUGE - over 12" easily. We always thought it was a male because of the build and "bullness" but then she laid eggs lol

Re: New, Improved Tokay Gecko
The pores look female. Males usually have kind of waxy looking plugs inside their pores.

Re: New, Improved Tokay Gecko
Very nice tokay. They can be feisty, but they don't deserve the bad rep. I've seen them tamed down into sweet little guys numerous times

Re: New, Improved Tokay Gecko
I wish they were more common here. You only occasionally see WC sub-adults for sale here.
