I believe you just made my points for me in different words.The word domestic didn't just fall into my post by accident.

The fact that some snakes reacted differently is part of what I was talking about. I wasn't directly referring to rats + snakes, but since the OP expressed interest in so many animals, thought it might be helpful to him.

As far as a direct answer, I might as well say it again (like the OP might have missed it the first few times)-Yes many do to raise as food and/or pets (both of which I've done).

Welcome from a fellow newbie!

If you haven't already, do some research on IBD. This disease affects both Red Tail Boas and Ball Pythons. Since boas can by asymptomatic for a long time, an infected one could kill your ball before you knew anything was wrong.

Some good things about corn snakes: They are (typically) curious and lively, easy keepers, good eaters, docile, GREAT beginner snake, and come in lots of different colors.
