Re: The "Bite Club" thread
Well, after 7 plus years of owning snakes, it has finally happened, my very first bite, lol. I was reaching in to remove one of my adult male Dodomas to clean his enclosure, and whammo! The little bugger got me on the middle finger
gotta admit, it did sting!
sorry for the cruddy cell phone pic

Wow, I totally missed this. Yeah the Scrubbies were mental. But a lot of fun! It took a good 15 minutes of handling till they Maybe were calm enough to safely handle I was bit on the the tip of my nose once and nailed twice in quick succession in the face. (separate incident. ) As well as my wife and I being on the receiving end of several hand and arm tags. In the end, it was us or them, and I had to give them up.

Re: The "Bite Club" thread
Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.
I joined the club today. Not ten minutes after our new jungle carpet took a strike at my wife's hand (while I was cleaning the cage and adding some fake plants I got) and I told her not to put her hand in front of him.
I had bought a digital thermo/hygrometer and I wanted to move my cheap dial one next to it to check how accurate it was. Meanwhile Jerome was checking out the new perch and I just got too close to him. Oops.
I wasn't even sure he bit me until I saw him in the coiled position and then three little spots of blood on my knuckles. there's actually a small bruise on my knuckle too.
I work at a large chemical plant and we have safety drilled into our heads constantly. I really believe 100% of accidents an be avoided an this bite was a great example. One second of carelessness and I got tagged. Lucky for me it wasn't too painful a lesson. Hehehe

Re: The "Bite Club" thread
the little ones just leave you a stinger. Amazing how much blood can come from such a small nip.

Vlad tries to bite me through the cage!
I'm feeding him tomorrow and hopefully after that he won't be as agressive. I'm think he might just be cage defensive but I'm not entirely sure yet. I guess we will have to wait this out till we find out for sure!

Do you have access to a video camera to upload a video to show us? Some of us on here might be able to tell you if he's cage defensive or "aggressive." Just wanna help

Re: The "Bite Club" thread
I got this:
from her Sunday:
All my fault. I was tired from working a 12 hour shift (and not having a day off in over a week). I got sloppy and probably too trusting of her since she's such a sweetheart. She reminded me to not invade her home with my fingers again. It really didn't hurt...felt more like a cat scratch. It probably could have been worse or even from one of my bigger girls, so I'm lucky the mistake was with her. I won't forget again!
We got a new king yesterday. She was already grumpy from traveling and being in such a little bag. She was biting everything that moved when we unbagged her. The quarantine tub I got in anticipation of her being smaller was too small so after a while we moved her to a bigger one. She was just fine with the boyfriend handling her (but she goes after me with mouth wide open...go figure). It's when he tried to put her in that she back tracked up his hand and bit his finger. She didn't wrap or anything and we thought she'd let go. Instead she decided his finger was food and preceded to try to eat it lol. She only got the fingernail part in her mouth before she stopped. But she wouldn't or couldn't let go. I tried spraying her with water and water mixes and she still didn't let go. He eventually managed to work his finger free of her mouth, being careful not to hurt her. She's been fine every since but I think she's a bit attached to him now!
It's going to be interesting to watch the relationship between her and the boyfriend. She's definitely piqued his interested with this move. He's not afraid of her and since the bite didn't hurt him or draw blood, he's more than ready to hold her more when she's had a little more time to settle in

Re: The "Bite Club" thread
I want to be part of the club! Getting bit is practically my job description... I rarely take pictures of it anymore. I'll start from here on though. Great pics everyone, takin' it like champs! How many people are just getting tagged versus constricted though I wonder.... Huge difference in my experience!

I had a Burmese mistake my hand for food. Bit and wrapped it took over 15 minutes to get him to release. He was trying he best to squeeze the life out of my arm. He left me with 14 teeth broken off in my hand and temporary nerve damage. My hand look like it was slammed in a car door.
