2009 Blue Puget female..

The last time i had this girl on the forum she was in quarantine. That was sometime last year. After a 2 mos. qt. she did really well, and about 4 mos. after that developed a couple of issues. The first was a cessation in feeding which i couldn't figure out. Triple checked my husbandry. Everything checked out. She didn't appear ill, and i figured it must be she wanted to breed or was gravid. Once she started passing slugs then i knew! Continued passing them ovver about 10 days intermittently. Finally pushed out a stillborn hatchling and subsequently lost about 15gms total. All that to say she recovered fully and has gained all her weight back since the episode back in mid 2015. Now i can't get her to stop eating! Oh, and i never paired her with any male! The original seller only said she had a short brumation period of about 2 mos. prior to me acquiring her. I am hoping to pair her up with a nice male later this year.

Thank you EL! Hoping to acquire a blue puget male soon. He is a sub- adult but is healthy and will be conditioned for breeding after a qt. period. My fingers are crossed that i can pair them and be successful. It can be difficult with pugets.

Absolutely you are. I am very excited about this project and hope i can pull it off. Blue puget breeding is a daunting undertaking according to the experts. One main reason is they usually need to be in colonies or breeding groups of several males to a female as it is in the wild. Another is their brumation periods are longer than most thamnophis and should be synchronized. The rewarming and pairing needs to be similar. But, it can be done. I was told by a expert in blue pugets that my girl needs to lose a little weight to conditdion her properly. Hahaha.

Ahahaha! That is funny. Maybe the puget and I will hit the beach or the pool to really get these grams/pounds off. I think the puget sub species loves to be near water anyway. Lol.
