Venturing into Geckos

So lately I've been looking at getting into geckos or should i say more into geckos? My son has a leo named George lol.

ANYWAY, I'm thinking either crested geckos or gargoyle geckos. I'd probably want to get a trio. (The male wouldn't be living with the girls)

So what do you guys think? In terms of enclosures I have an exoterra double door that I believe is 2 x 2 x 3 and a large 50 gal breeder so either one would be available.

The reason I want them is because they'd be good for my son.

Re: Venturing into Geckos

For gargoyles, you shouldn't keep even females together. They may not kill eachother, but they will fight.

Poke me if you have any specific questions! =)

Maaaybe if there's alot of space. But I wouldn't advise it. My female cresties are fine together though =) I keep 3-4 in ine tank and have no fights, missing tails, ect.

Re: Venturing into Geckos

A tank big enough to keep two female gargs from fighting would probably take up more space than having two separate tanks for them :P

Re: Venturing into Geckos

Some people construct enclosures by placing two tall rubbermaids ontop of the other. Similar to Crowley's old bin but then you flip the second so it's facing in and then construct a door.

Ugh. Eff that noise.

We both know that won't happen. Maybe I'll keep them on my baby rack and put cresteds in the exo

Re: Venturing into Geckos

Out of the two I'd pick a gargoyle. The same care but I just think they look better.. Plus the tail will regrow on a garg if ever its dropped lol..

However I'm addicted to cave geckos currently so I've gotta throw those in there.. They're not hard to look after really, they're a bit more skittish than Leo's etc but are easily handlable with time.. Plus they look awesome
