How do you resist?

So I got my first snake back in September and I absolutely adore him, I joined this site very shortly after acquiring him and the more time I spend here the more I want ALL the snakes! But I already have a total of 7 pets and work full time. How do all of you resist buying more snakes all the time? Right now I am VERY tempted to get a western hognose.

Re: How do you resist?

Resistance is futile.

Space and money are the only things that hold me back. Snake care is easy.

I exaggerate a little. Having expensive tastes and not much money helps me keep my collection small. I only have two snakes and a tortoise. My daughter has two snakes of her own. And we have a few invertebrates and fuzzy pets. So, nothing too extravagant.

Having a wife...

Probably a good thing or I might be living in a zoo.

Re: How do you resist?

I'd like to tell myself that if I get a hognose I will have both ends of the spectrum and then I'd be happy. I'd have a large (large enough for me anyway) nocturnal boa with a tropical type setup and a small diurnal colubrid with a more desert type set up. But then I see a MBK or a cool BP morph or a SD retic and I'm like "OOOOH Pretty snake, must have!"

Re: How do you resist?

Space is the main issue here, our house is not very big so we're limited to what we can keep

Re: How do you resist?

So basically I'm just gonna keep collecting until I run out of space and money?! Haha that could be dangerous. But fun

Re: How do you resist?

What's holding me back right now is the goal of putting my current babies into their permanent enclosures before I get any more. I don't want to be spending $1,000's of dollars at once to upgrade everyone.

Re: How do you resist?

Only space and money keep me in control. A hognose is super cool and Id love to have one. They are pretty small and easy maintanance.

Right now I like bigsnakegirl am working on upgrading my caging for what I have now. Luckily mine are all relatively small snakes. No big ones for me. Unless I can get hubby to help me get that snake room built in the basement.

Resistance is definitely futile, though I was a good girl and did not bring home a new snake from last months show at White Plains, NY....But I have another show coming up in a week...lol

Re: How do you resist?

Luckily (or unluckily???) there haven't been any reptile shows nearby since I got my rainbow in September. If I knew where to find a hognose locally I would probably be there right now. The only thing slowing me down now is that I'm hesitant to buy online.
