What is the Oldest herp in your collection?

I see a lot of posts about 'look at the new X i picked up! or 'what should i get next (guilty!), and 'New babies!!'
which got me to thinking, what are some of the oldest animals in your collection? How long have you had them? And neat stories that go along with them?
Pictures are always nice too

Re: What is the Oldest herp in your collection?

Chuck did a thread on this a while back. Called celebrating the old timers or something. Lots of cool stuff there.

Re: What is the Oldest herp in your collection?

I have some animals that I don't know the origin of like my tortoise and some WC frogs. For all I knowt hey are 10+ years. But the oldest one that I am sure of is my female white tree frog and my male corn. Both are 5 going on 6 soon. I have had much older snakes and frogs but these are the oldest right now.

Re: What is the Oldest herp in your collection?

Unfortunately, the one that I know is the oldest in our collection I got as an adult from a breeder that didn't know exactly how old she was, he told me his best guess was that she was 12, so I'm thinking she is now somewhere around 16-18 years old. She is a Mexican Rosy boa, Esme.

And the one I've had the longest but is not the oldest in actual age is Tavia, my Classic corn snake. I've had her for about four and a half years. She was the first snake I bought, rather than the first few snakes I kept that were WC garter snakes when I was very young.

Re: What is the Oldest herp in your collection?

My red-cheeked mud turtle, Koopa, is the oldest because he's at least 7-8 years but is probably much older since he was full grown when I got him:

The oldest one I raised from a baby is Sahara, my six year old ball python:

Re: What is the Oldest herp in your collection?

My oldest snake is Black Betty. She is a 9' 26 lb. Dum and is at least 11 years old but judging by her size and color, I would guess her to be closer to 15. We picked her up as part of a breeding trio 3 1/2 years ago at the Omaha Reptile Show and we housed her with the male (Popeye) for about 6 months for breeding purposes. He was an eager breeder and so relentless even though he was less than half her size. We did eventually witness a lock and took pics but a few days later, she had enough of his relentless "putting the moves on her" and attacked him. We were able to separate them and they have never been back together since. In effect, this "breeding trio" never happened. In fact, I have given up on ever producing babies from her.

Betty is shy to the point that when you pull her out, she will try to slither away from me but has never been aggressive or defensive. Once she's out, she will just chill on my shoulders, relaxed as can be.

Up until recent days, she has clearly been my biggest snake but Medusa, my 2 year old Burm is catching up. Their girth and length are the same now but Betty is still a little heavier because she clearly has more muscle tone than Medusa does.

Betty is pretty sedentary and doesn't move around much at all. Overall, she just likes to chill, even in her Neodesha.

Re: What is the Oldest herp in your collection?

I also posted in the old timer's thread mentioned. The oldest snake I have is Bud (the ball python) and he's a little over 7 years old now. I got him near the end of September 2006 as a baby.

Re: What is the Oldest herp in your collection?

I've got a 14(in February)year old female ball python, had her for nearly 6 years now. Her name is bubbles, she's a craigslist rescue success story she was only fed 6 medium rats a year by the previous owner. She was long and super skinny housed in a 28qt tub; she's now about 5 feet long and 3300+ grams, and a 10 egger.

I've also had in the past but no longer due to no fault of my own: a Leo gecko I had for nearly 13 years I lost him in a house fire when I was a teenager. And a red eared slider that I had for 10 years before I left her at my dads house ( he had an indoor pond in his green room), where she was stolen by someone at a party my little sister threw(really made me mad).

Re: What is the Oldest herp in your collection?

Also posted in the Oldtimers thread but my Haitian Boa Rudy has been with since Dec. 1982 as an 18-20 inch juvenile. So I guess that puts him at 32.5-33 yrs old. He's now about 6.5 feet and is presently hanging out under his RHP digesting the large rat he scarfed down this earlier this evening. Didn't take any pics of that though. It was pretty dark in there anyway.
