Hypo Hogg..culdnt resist

put a deposit down on a CB13 hypo hogg today, culdnt resist lovely markings and color, picking him up next week - quick question, i'm finding conflicting ideas about basking temps, some saying 28C-30C and some saying upto 32-35C, any opinions on this?

also do they spend enough time climbing to make it worthwhile installing perch beams?

I think 28-30c is the usually recommended temperature, but if my enclosures are big enough I provide hotter basking spots so they can choose.

For example in my old carpet python enclosure I provided temps up to 99F and he would use it after a meal, then after a day or so would move down to an area of 90F.

My bci have a hot spot between 93°f-95°f. I would also recommend a perch ad all of my boas ( even my 6.5' female ) love to climb.

Definitely something to climb on. Mine likes to cruise around and climb a lot.

formica I just realized that 30c was 86F. In that case I would give the latter as the hotspot. I give my boas hospots of around 90F, sometimes a little lower sometimes a little hotter depending on ambient air temperature.

ok kool, breeders recommendation is 30C aswell, I think i go with that while he's in quarantine in a tub, 35C(95F) will be a bit difficult to manage in a tub while the central heatings on here, will give him a hotter option in the display case when its built

have one more 2ft enclosure to build then I'll start on his, might do it 4x3x2, will see!

Yeah I might sell some enclosures, all depends how well the next 2 builds go, no major issues have cropped up so far, and I could do with something to fill my time as winter is a very quiet time in my industry - i used to sell formicariums for tropical ant species (along with ant colonies), def a good way to keep me out of trouble

finally got him home managed to get one (rubbish) pic, was bright orange before i took him out, and turned speckly and yellowish pretty quick, he's very hissy after the journey, so more pics to follow in a few days

Very very nice. I am curious as to what the difference between a hogg island boa and a hypo hogg island boad were? I thought (for some reason) that all hogg island boas had that "hypo" effect.
