Re: Going to college... What do I do with my Ball Python?
It doesn't matter what the 'source' of current bans are. If people are keeping big snakes where they aren't supposed to, and something bad or stupid happens, or people panic for nothing and it gets all over the news, etc. etc. its all bad publicity so when they do have a source or reason to ban, this is just more icing on the cake.

If you don't like laws and restrictions, I suggest you move to the congo or somalia or something and see how much you like it. Or if you know of a country which has all the laws you enjoy, and none of the restrictions you hate, let me know what the name of it is. Unicorn land isn't accepted as an answer.

No place is perfect, except my mind. Sorry. Unicorn land will have to do until society stops rewarding incompetence. And believe me I doubt that will ever happen...
Idiocracy is our destiny lol

With time I can only foresee that most large constrictors will be banned. Just like guns...

Re: Going to college... What do I do with my Ball Python?
The OP isn't attending university in Unicorn Land, but in a place that doesnt allow snakes.
OP: see if your school has a herpetology club/something similar. Maybe one of the upperclassmen living off campus would be willing to house your snake for the first year or so. If your university isn't very far away, you could make it a commitment to get home every two weeks (minimum) to feed your snake, as long as your parents will keep an eye on humidity/temperature.
Rehoming is NOT a bad option, and may be worth considering. If so, i'd start looking for responsible takers now, so you have time to stay updated before school starts.

WOW your all missing the obvious answer to the problem. All you have to do is cook the snake and eat it. You get a nice taste meal and your snake can stay with you. Well until you crap it out. lol
I know this sound stupid and immature but hey so doesn't this whole thread.

Re: Going to college... What do I do with my Ball Python?
There is only 2 obvious things going on here.
1) read my previous post and do it.
2) everyone else stop trying to display your "coolness" and take this thread into some "cooler than you" contest.
Lets just try to let the op know loosing the snake to a good home is not a sad option because the snake will be fine and school is to important to muck with vicariously through other people. Stop telling this person what you would do and support them to do the right thing. What happens over thenext 5years for the op will determine the rest of their life . Why even risk giving bad advice based on poor judgements and having a good time? Go to school. Get your degree. Then worry about having snakes.
Again this is so cut and dry. All other argument is null and void.

Re: Going to college... What do I do with my Ball Python?
The right thing cannot be determined by anyone here other than the OP. Having options is one thing and in the end there may be other factors present we cannot take into account. It's better to have more choices to think about as opposed to having morality dictated towards someone. It's all subjective.
