Best way to keep temp?

I am pretty new to snakes. i have 2 with almost the same setup, just the ball has more humidity. I keep its humidity between 50 - 60. for both i only have a heatpad on one side and nothing els. it was just recently that i got thermometers and stuff and realized the temp is not high en of. they are both about 70 deg F . Both are eating well and regularly but i want the best for em. any advice?

If you can describe your ehole set up including type and constructuion of the viv we can suggest more efficient ways to heat it

70f is definitely too low for the royal and i would suggest your humidity is also too low, try to keep it above 60

It's ok, we all have questions.. Which end is 70, the hot or cold? The thing with matts is that they create a hot spot but do almost nothing for ambient temps at all. They're best used in a heated reptile room or a generally warm room/house .. Hope this helps

It is just a 15 gal aquarium (I know should not use them but i found out after the fact ) i am saving for a bigger tank for reptiles atm. substrait is repti bark and echo earth, about 2 inch deep. i have a water bowl, a hollow log on cool side, and plastic hollow rock on hot heatpad side. i have a piece of wood to climb on and some plastic greenary next to the wood. i have a full screen top.

same for the corn just no log and no wood.

70 is basically the all round ambient temp

I agree with what has been said. But you need to do it faster is there any way you can warm them up?

I can go to petco mabey tonight, what would you suggest they have lights, heat cords, mabey even a thermostat. i got about 30$ i could spend on each right now tho

UPDATE went to petco tonight and got both snakes a light&heat Halogen mini dome, with a Zilla 50W night red bulb. now i think i will need a thermostat right? or are these lights good at staying a temp?

You shouldn't lose lights because it'll decrease you humidity. Don't open them yet so you can return them if need be.

Can you please explain to everyone your full enclosure set-up. What thermometers are you using? I'd question them to because I don't know ball pythons that eat and digest at 70F!!!

A light from on top will dry out the humidity inside the tank. If it's not too late, return the lamps. One of the essential pieces you need is a thermostat that can help regulate the temperature from a heat source. This will keep the heat source from getting too hot, and keep it at a constant temperature. The stick-on thermometers are sometimes inaccurate, and the sticky part behind it can get stuck on your snakes if it falls off. You can find some pretty cheap temperature guns online to measure the exact temperature of different areas in the tank. To get humidity up, you can try covering the screen top with seran wrap, or something solid cut to the size of the top to trap some of the humidity in. Just make sure you leave a little space for air flow
A lot of this can be overwhelming. Most new snake keepers don't get the right information or tools from the beginning. We're glad you're here to ask questions, get answers, and make sure your snakes get the proper care!

Your right it already has started getting the moisture ill return probably to marrow and try ceramic heater? i almost got one but a few people told me to get the light.

Have you tried placing the thermometers on the actual HOT sides? Not just the ambient temps?

The emitter will suck out humidity as well. I recommend spending your funds on rubbermaids and converting those. They hold humidity and heat rather well.

Are those the plastic containers? you can use them instead of the expensive reptile tanks? that would be really cool lol. i just ordered a thermostat online should be here Friday. yes on the hot side it is now 88 deg F and has been holding steady. would it be ok to leave the light on without the thermostat? I will return the light and get a better heat source probably friday as well. thank you very much everyone for your helpful answers to all my questions. i google alot of them but i get many many mixed answers. thats why this is great.

It will work better for the ball python than the corn snake.
