Don't give up yet! Hopefully Shaun will pop up and explain that trap he suggested...although I wonder how it will work for a snake this size.

I never thought about just sitting in the rooms in the dark to see if I could hear them moving. Although that may not work for me since I have nerve deafness.

Rogue, sitting in the dark, was how i found my youngest sons escaped kingsnake,he was a noisy snake.....

i heard him come from under the floor boards, then pop his wee head out from under the skirting board..

he was covered in fluff, spider webs, etc,it was quite a funny sight to see

cheers shaun

Re: usually it's treats...

yeah, i've tried that...i have super sensitive hearing and am a VERY light sleeper (I hear when the dog shifts in the living room in his crate while dead asleep). I don't think he's moved much, unless he's in the roomie's rooms...which I feel a little bad about invading their privacy...though they do let me.

Re: usually it's treats...

he can't get to my towels, as they are on the top shelf in my closet (about 8ft up on a linen shelf). I'm thinking he's behind the fridge, so i'm prepared for burns (his cage is now newspaper, just in case). Such tricky little buggers...I'm still very much in shock at how well he's hiding!!!

Shaun, that sounds hilarious!!

Darlin' I'm glad you found him by chance but you never would have with this thinking. 8 ft. is nothin'. You saw the video Kyle posted of the retic climbing the tree right? Should you ever lose a snake again don't underestimate it being anywhere.

Oh no, i saw the video...but it was a linen shelf...there's nothing for him to hold onto while he climbs

That 20 ft Retic chased a bunch of monkeys straight up a tree.

Maybe you need to watch the video again...

Re: usually it's treats...

He's back!!! Best story ever, too!! We're having gaming day today, and one of our friends needed to use the restroom. About 5 seconds after he leaves, we hear him scream and start cussing...at that point, I knew he had found Pajamas xD I laughed, and am beyond happy to have him back. his cage is now escape proof, and later tonight I'm going to get a christmas tree bin for him instead, to totally prevent this from happening. Thanks for everyone's concern!!!!

Can I come to game night at your place? Come with cards/video games/board games and leave with a cool looking snake!

Woot! I'm so glad you found him!!!

Where are you getting your Christmas tree tote? I've been like a vulture at the local Wal Marts, going every couple of days to see if they have them yet and so far nothing!

They only carry them around X-mas and right after. There are sites you can order them from.

Here's one site.
Artificial Christmas Tree Box by Iris, Holiday Storage

Just Google Iris VE 175 Christmas totes.

That's a new place I haven't seen them before! And it looks like they'll actually ship them! Thanks!!!!! Too bad they're out of stock, but I sent an email request to be notified when they get them in. BTW, was it you that posted a picture about a month ago of yours on a shelf? If so, I'd really like to see that pic again. I'm going to use that as a base idea of how to arrange mine.

Better yet, if it's some place that he can't harm himself, let him go and watch him. I will sometimes make sure whatever room I'm handling my snakes in is snake proofed as best as possible and watch them roam....one at a time of course lol. I will follow them just to make sure if they do get something that could be potentially dangerous in some form or another, I'm there to make sure they don't go there lol.

I love observing what they do once they're given a bit of free roam. It's interesting to see how they act and react to certain things. It also gives me a better idea of if they do escape, where they may go or how they travel.
