Look close, she nearly got my hand again, she jumps for the wrong end of the tongs, that's how she missed the worm.

How old was the Mertens?

Adult mate.
But no oddly enough grabbed me thumb all of it then let go as fast as it happned.
The tongs were 3' with a chick on the end...
Most hilarious bite ive ever experienced.
Ive had worse of beardies.

Very lucky with my bites so far.
Worst was a nile... and she was 2' long at the time so as you can imagine Not a lot of damage there either.
Ive come off worst most of the time from claw marks.

really cool how you provide such a natural enclosure for the monitors, and especially how you house more than one together. I'm pretty sure these are solitary animals in the wild, but yours seem to be doing fine. I find it really cool how they give eachother little nips here and there, has there ever been any serious physical altercations between them?

It's dominance displays and food altercations only.
