Re: Boas: het albino on het snow

it would take two breedings, but yes, you could. recessives, unless paired with hets for that specific gene or visible recessives will take 2 breedings to get visible recessives. This is what it would take. v

Re: Boas: het albino on het snow

ok just for curiosity-sake (I have no breeding plans)

What would I get if I crossed my Coral Albino with.. lets say a sunglow

Re: Boas: het albino on het snow

coral is a strain of albinism correct? and sunglow is a hypo white phase albino right?

Re: Boas: het albino on het snow

the problem with albinos is they're not always compatible with each other. If the sunglow was a hypo coral albino you'll get 1/2 sunglows and 1/2 coral albinos. If they're not you'll get 1/2 het coral het other albino and 1/2 hypo het coral het other albino.

Re: Boas: het albino on het snow

so you'll probably get the later outcome, 1/2 normal het coral het white phase albino and 1/2 hypo het coral het white
it largely depends on who the original breeder was.

Re: Boas: het albino on het snow

So would I get any visual in the first Gen from these two snakes? Please assume that they are both 100% hets. Also put it in plain stupid talk. My head is starting to spin

maybe, it depends on 2 things
are the strains of albino compatible? (if they're from the same breeder or importer originally than it is most likely yes)
if that possible het is indeed a het, you'll get albinos possible het snows, there's a 66% chance that that its het albino, and 66% chance that its het anery, and 44% chance that its het snow.

Re: Boas: het albino on het snow

So if they are compatible albino genes then I will get some albinos an the rest are normal or het for?(?) . Will the albinos be het for anery or snow? Anery albino is a snow correct?

Re: Boas: het albino on het snow

if the albinos are compatible you will get about a quarter albino 50% het snows, and half normals that are 66% het albino and 50% het anery
complete breakdown looks like this:
12.5% normal (no het, this is where people get burned, I would breed a co-dom known het for the possible recessive to prove this line while still producing some nice snakes)
25% het albino
12.5% het anery
25% het snow
12.5% albino
12.5% albino het anery/snow

If an albino is het for anery, it is also het for snow because snow is a double recessive albino anery.
