Prey Size for my Bullsnake
Ok so I have a question as to which size food she can take. The supplier I got her from said pinky rats but they aren't leaving much of a bump and she poops about 3 days after feeding
she's more slender then my RTB who is still on fuzzy rats once every 7 days or so I'm not sure if I should move up to fuzzy rats for her as well or move her to double pinks first
thoughts?

Re: Prey Size for my Bullsnake
I feed my bull large size prey and she has always handled it well. you shouldn't have a problem with fuzzies

Re: Prey Size for my Bullsnake
awesome I'm glad I can stop buying pinkies and just buy fuzzies since my RTB is on them I'm hoping to switch her to small rats soon switching a prey size always worries me until they take it and then I am fine

Re: Prey Size for my Bullsnake
the only problem with feeding bulls larger prey item i have had is with my sunglow bull Jaws. Every time i try to bump up prey size he gets all angry at it a rattles and hisses. he will strike but not to eat more to defend. for him i have to feed multiple rat pinkies rather than a fuzzie. but my white sided will eat anything, any size maybe be sure to have one or two pinks on hand just in case you run into the same issue jaws has but you should be fine.

How about an image of the snake to get an idea? You know us old folks, we're all about the visuals

Re: Prey Size for my Bullsnake
haha Todd there are pictures of her posted all over the forums
Sidenote: I think bumping prey size is contagious in my house my BP just moved up to med rats, the bullsnake is moving up to fuzzy rats, my GTP had a growth 4 days after feeding her a fuzzy mouse she was prowling for food and took another one so I'm thinking it may be time to move her to hoppers (she's been on fuzzies for about a month) annd my boa is starting to look like she can go up a food size from fuzzy rats fairly soon
these snakes are growing like weeds lol

But...but...but...those don't relate to the prey size for the thing right *now*. They could be weeks old <insert snicker here>. I did dig around and saw a couple of shots. I'm sure it could take a small rat no problem, but one thing I've noticed with Bullsnakes is that once they start eating larger items, they tend to want to eat less often.
I'm not so sure that would relate to a well-adjusted captive bred youngster, but I've seen it more than once in a few Bulls that other people have raised or kept, and in most cases it was also accompanied by a noticeable attitude change leaning more towards wild Bullsnake behaviour. Hopefully that won't be the case for yours
