Wild Garter Snake Eating Toad

Just thought I'd share my dad emailed me this picture from our back yard in southern Ontario. Does any one know what it is.

Off the top of my head it looks like some type of ribbon snake.

Yea that's what my dad said it was, but I haven't ever found one with such beautiful reds.

to think a lot of folk are paranoid about feeding too large a prey item

that wee guys got a huge mouthfull there

I wad going to say Garter but it was the red's that threw me off too.

the infernalis and SF garter have really nice reds and blues also, i like them.

I have witnessed this more than once, the snake will push that air out, the last thing that toad will ever do... exhale that last breath.
