what kind of snake is this
i was out fishing for in a fresh waer pond and ending up catching this snake. i thought it was a snag and treated it as such, it almost broke my rod. the snake looked to be about 7 inches long had a solid white under body and a lime green top. im just trying to figure out what kind of snake this is as i fish this spot often and i just want to know what is around this pond while im out there.

His link is fine, because we aren't his friend on facebook we can't see it.
Either add me on facebook and I'll link it. Or click the paperclip looking button and upload it from your computer.

Re: what kind of snake is this
He unlocked it, it looks like a slug man, not a snake. Lol. Or maybe an eal.

Re: what kind of snake is this
It has an eye and a dorsal fan, so I'm going to say its an eal.

Re: what kind of snake is this
Is it a man made pond or a natural pond? Do any other waters ever wash into the pond when floods happen? And have floods happened in NC around your area this year?
The broad body of the animal with a tapered tail like that is more like an eel than a snake. Is it laying on its side in that picture or on its stomach/belly?
Freshwater Eel
Snake

Re: what kind of snake is this
It isn't the greatest picture but - yea- doesn't really look like a snake does it.

Re: what kind of snake is this
it is on its side, and i think its a man made pond its on camp lejeune. no other bodies of water wash over into this pond when it rains in fact this pond spends alot of it its time in a really low water state during the year. i know it has small mouth bass, perch, sunfish, mud turtles to name a few of the other animals living in the water deer and bear often drink out of the pond all year round to. it was night when i caught it, and i dont think i have ever heard of an eel being caught on base but i will have to call the game commission on base and check with them.
