RI again. Correct Baytril dose?
Everything goes wrong at the same time. All stillborn babies, a random mite outbreak of unkown origins, and now RI. Vet was a complete ***. I bought 2 20 mls of 2.27%. My RTB is 10 pounds. One injection of 2 ccs diluted with equal water then 1cc diluted with equal water for the remainder correct? Going to treat the smaller one too since he was in contact with the female. He's 5 pounds so just half the first dose right? Just want to double check.
I drove 20 miles each way after being told I could just come pick up the refill from last time. I get there and he decides i'm too stupid to calculate the dose for my snake so I had to go back and bring them to him. After waiting two hours I get the Baytril and he didn't even write a dose down besides mgs/kgs of snake. I already F***ing knew that. Should have waited for my usual doc but I wanted to treat her ASAP.

Re: RI again. Correct Baytril dose?
Another question, I put a hating pad in their tank and it didn't realy up the temp of the cage. Added a basking spot that's about 100 but they never go on it. Should I just remove it?

Re: RI again. Correct Baytril dose?
I got it with the tank. Its a fairly large one attached to a seperate piece of glass laying on the bottom. It puts out plenty of heat. If I hit it with the temp gun without substrate it's shown 120+. \About 100 with substrate on top.

you need to get it on a Thermostat to lower the temps.

Re: RI again. Correct Baytril dose?
ya thats way to hot!! and You should put it outside the tank under it, it shouldnt be in the tank. It also need a t-stat. For the on with Ri you should up the temps but not to 100 lol
I dont know about dosage belive it or not Ive never had an RI case : / shockiing to me with how many animals/years Ive been in it something like Ri is bond to happen I would think, guess Ive been lucky : )
I think with the stillborns/mites/RI you should take a real good look at your overall husbandry. Your doing something worng to have that many health issues pop up at once! I hear about these individual issues coming up over a ten yr period not in the month you have been posting Id be a bit concerned for the welfare of my collection if I were you!!

Re: RI again. Correct Baytril dose?
My tank has thick playwood it can't go underneath. I just added more substrate to reduce the surface temps to 95. My question was more geared towarad weather I need it at all. One end of the tank is 88-90 the other end 82-85 without it. I thought it would help up the temps but all it did is create a hot spot.
I think it was just really unlucky. The one time I didn't spray down my new substrate with provent-a-mite A bunch of tiny mites appear, coincidence? Ever have new substrate bring in mites? They've been mite free for many months and always get sterile hands whenever touched. I did transfer them to a new cage. The guy previously had a yellow anaconda in it ....didn't look like the type of guy that knew anything besides "cool I own an anaconda"....I bleached the hell out of the cage but maybe I didn't get it good enough? It's an old jewllery display case. Maybe a prego mite was hiding in the crack of the wood?
I don't know what else you want me to check out about my husbandry. I have pretty decent temps, humidity, Good hides, proper sized tank.

Yes, wood mites.
Harmless (unless you're made of wood).
Don't even try to get rid of them, you won't.

Re: RI again. Correct Baytril dose?
Ah lol makes sense. Didn't see the typical "adult" snake mite. Just a bunch of specks in the water. Never even seen any moving or on the actual snake.

Re: RI again. Correct Baytril dose?
We regularly get wood mite in the substrate, just leave them to drown themselves in the water bowls, no way you will get rid of them.

Re: RI again. Correct Baytril dose?
i use oral baytril 2.5%
0.2ml per kg of body wieght is a weak dose
0.4ml per kilo of body wieght is the strongest dose
in the 2.5% strength theres 25mg of baytril in every 1ml of the solution
the weakest dose is adminestered daily
i preffer the stronger dose thats adminestered every other day (its less stressfull on you and the snake)
sorry i can't tell you if its the same for injectable baytril mate
cheers shaun
