New Snake~ What is it? lmao
Literally JUST got back from Niagra with a new "pine snake" I picked up. Completlely random. Had a friends mom call me and say she had this snake sitting in her basement for over three months, and asked if I wanted to take it. So of corse I said yes. When I showed up, it was this big angry guy. They weren't sure what sort of snake it was, I believe it is a pine snake of sorts. Just brought it home as is in the tank. Hasn't eaten anything but eggs apperently n months, and hasn't had any heat or light, just a water bowl change here and then. I haven't touched him at all, as he doesn't seem to pleasent. Going to pick up a snake hook Wed for him.
So, do you all agree that he is a pine snake? And, any care tips? Or name ideas? ;D

Re: New Snake~ WTF is it? lmao
Looks like some type of pine or rat snake for sure...but wouldn't know. Since he is wild caught you have my hopes that he acclimates well to captivity.

Re: New Snake~ WTF is it? lmao
Nooooo, he wasn't wild caught. He came from my friends sister, who at one bought of time owned a small reptile store, and he was one of her personals she kept there. But when it shut down, some how he ended up being left in her moms basement, and they've been looking for someone to take it but no luck since he's kinda big. I talked to the sister, and she said he was fine when she had him a few months agoand is a bit of a grump from lack of attention since she had to close down and move.

Wowww. Sorry - bought = point. So, I wouldn't exactly think letting a four foot something snake go, that we don't naturally have here, would be the right choice. =/
Sorry, I can't type worth anything right now. x.x I'm half asleep - been driving all over ontario this weekend home different reasons.

Re: New Snake~ WTF is it? lmao
Oh lordy I thought he was wild caught as well! That someone found this big guy hanging out in their basement. I remember when we lived in Kansas for 2 years we would find snakes quite often that found their way into our basement into the winter...so I thought that it what happened here.
Enough handling and he will be nice again I am sure <3 Good luck!

Re: New Snake~ WTF is it? lmao
Nooo, sorry. Lol, I worded it funny. I'm off to get some sleep - I'm a half dead zombie right now. Went to a college open house in kingston, pick up a tank a friend made me as a gift in toronto, then half way home got the call about the snake and turned around to fort erie (which is right at the boarder by niagra) lol.
Thanks for the good luck, In all honesty, I almost didn't take him. But the sister is having issues with work, child, ex husband, etc etc, and the mom absolutely hates snakes and wasn't doing much for it... I felt bad for the damn thing.

Re: New Snake~ WTF is it? lmao
This is kind of a crazy question...but one I have to ask...
Are you sure this guy isn't venomous? I did a search and considering the head shape it is really reminding me of the "Mulga Snake" which is supposed to be venomous.

Re: New Snake~ WTF is it? lmao
Good luck with the new addition! Sorry can't help with care, info! Hang in there i'm sure that someone will be by to give you the information you need. At least now he will be looked after and not left in a basement.

Re: New Snake~ WTF is it? lmao
That's a lil' concerning but Yea, I am, pretty sure atleast. From what I gather apperently he bit someone a child and that' why he ended up being sold to the sister, but the guy who sold it to her thought it was a corn snake - which it clearly isn't. She was pretty sure it was pine snake, but unsure of which sort. I stopped by at 'reptile wranglers' in barrie on the way home and thats what the guy there told me it was to. Just when I showed up at the house the mom was telling me it was a rat snake, the brother was telling me it was milk snake, and the dad telling me something else. x.x so i dont actually know any of them that well so I thought I'd ask you guys

Re: New Snake~ WTF is it? lmao
Gotcha, well the fact it bit someone and that someone was a child and DIDN'T die makes me move on. I will continue my search. I just though Pine Snakes had more dynamic and rather bold markings while this guy seems a little more...drab overall. Probably some sort of morph or whatever which makes it harder.

Re: New Snake~ WTF is it? lmao
! I love that emiliee! someone suggest sphincter to me, as in anal sphincter - as in ***, but I didn't like that at all. Thanks for the encouragement mld. He's got a basking light on him now and has curled up ontop of his box - looks pretty happy now actually - besides his lil frowning eyes.
