might be getting a pastel!!

my pet store where i got all other snakes (besides my BRB) has a pastel for $150... i know its pretty high, but i still might snatch it up.

i took a few quick pics of the one i thought was a pastel, but the camera didnt capture the color and what not...

well here he is!!

i can say, it does have white lips, and green eyes, whitch im told are traits of pastels, but if its not a pastel and just a normal, i still may get it... his colors are really nice.

That just looks like a normal to me, may be the photo not sjowing colouring well but.........

Have to agree looks 100% normal. I would ask for breeder name and such before buying just so you can get some proof that it is a pastel and not something the store is doing to get some extra money for a normal snake.

I believe that is a pastel; look at the first pic, there is a normal and you can see a marked difference in color/vibrancy. Also, pastels have blushing, which is easily visible in the all of the pics. The green eyes are also a giveaway; with normals, you rarely can see the pupil (unless the lighting is absolutely perfect).

Try and get more info and see if you can talk to the breeder they got it from. Also, ask if you can hold it and snap some better pics while it's out.

IMHO, it's a pastel.

I'm going today before work and going to ask a few questions about it. Like I said I'm comfortable with this place, but if it's not, I will contact a breeders, or hit up a reptile show.

Sincere apologies, didnt realise that was two snakes!! Thought it was just one. The top one could be a pastel, the bottom one (which i thought was the back of the pastel) is a normal. Sorry

Have to agree very sorry for the confusion...I also thought it was one snake! Still some better pictures would remove all doubt especially if you can get the eyes and face. I want to see that "blushing" cause I am either blind or misinformed on it.

And the best news.... it is only $60!!!! They took down the pastel price tag, bit I'm %100 positive that it is!!!! Very light color, white lips, you can see the pupil of the eye, and just the color tells me that it is!!!

That does suck, but if I breed him to my normal, will the future babies get brighter....

I still may get him. Either way I probably will.

If you breed him to your normal, you should get 50% normals, 50% pastels. The fire morph can make some morphs "brighter," but I haven't looked into this particular combo.

You could also get another pastel and try to produce a super pastel, which should be brighter. And if you breed a super pastel to a normal, you get nothing but pastels!

no they will not get lighter you can get another pastel. here is a pic of mine when i first got him and a few months ago.
