Flexwatt Sticking
I just bought 2 feet and taped it up on the bottom of the tank. Now i see it fell off but my temps are still where they need to be. So the flexwatt is now laying under the tank on the stand, with 3/8 of an inch between the flexwatt and tank.

Re: Flexwatt Sticking
Aluminum tape is BAD news. Aluminum is conductive, so you may short out your heat tape and set your house on fire. Just saying...
I just tape the clear sides (1/4") with black electrical tape.

I tried electrical tape, holds for 15 mins then falls off. Everyone told me to use the metal tape, thats what everyone uses that iv spoke to, and it holds forever. There is no way it can short out anyway. I taped the open ends it black tape and it holds.
Read up on it at ball-pythons.net

Re: Flexwatt Sticking
Don't need to read up on it.
I've been using it for ten years.
I use either push pins to hold the tape to the routered melamine, or electrical tape to adhere it to un-routered melamine.
I also don't use fish cages for snakes, that's so....1997.

Actually, I do have an issue. Though you were the tipping point, please don't take all of my ire personally (or any of it to be quite frank).
I, like a few other members on here who have been around a while am getting sick and downright fu**ing tired of people coming on here and asking a question when they already know exactly what they are going to do.
If you're looking for someone to agree with you, ask your Mommy.
This is the exact reason that a LOT of knowledgeable breeders and keepers with tons of experience to share are packing in posting on open forums; kids with $1000 worth of allowance money on snakes, and three weeks experience who know everything.
Again, you're just the straw that broke this camels back.
Don't take it personally....

Re: Flexwatt Sticking
Yup. It's all true.
I'm rude.
I'm short.
I'm curt.
I can be a HUUUUUUUGE dik.
I don't coddle people.
I don't waste my time with niceties.
I provide solutions.
I share my experiences.
I've trial-and-errored it for years, I know what works.
I honestly could not care any less that you're offended by my posts.
I know my ****.
I have experience.
I TRY to help.
People don't want advice anymore.
They know better than everyone.
They want Yes Men.
I'm not your Yes Man.
It's really about the animals, not your feelings.
I don't care about you.
I want your animals to be happy and healthy.
You hate me?
I don't care.
But listen to the advice that I give, some of it's helpful.

Re: Flexwatt Sticking
I do it Mykee way and yeah he might not be Mr. friendly, but he been breeding for many, many years a know from first hand experience what he talking about. I had snake over 17 years myself. Anyone with 1/2 a brain knows better than to use aluminum tape on electrical wires. It doesn't matter if you like him or me for that matter. It all about the health and safety of YOUR SNAKE. If all your looking for is yes men try another site, because you won't find them here. If you want to listen to some dumb--s who don't know what their talking about. Then don't come crying to us when your snakes dies.

Re: Flexwatt Sticking
Who ever said i was using it on electrical wires??? Im taping the flexxwatt to the bottom of my tank. Flexwatt has about 1/4 inch or so on each side where there is nothing but plastic, so i still dont see the problem. Tape the edges of the plastic and its fine, not going over or close to anything electric.
