My answer would be the cost of one bumblebee ball python, one pastel ball python, and 2-3 years.
In turn, I would say the cost of one bumblebee python is one spider ball python, one pastel ball python, and 2-3 years.
You can also reuse the pastel ball python.
Pesonally, I think designer morphs are a bigger rip-off than designer clothing. And I do wear designer clothing but I wouldn't buy designer morphs :P

Except when you buy designer clothing, in three years you wouldn't be able to sell it for 1/10th it's original asking price. With ball pythons the value will be exponential. Rip-off? Enjoy your designer doublemint-green Brady Bunch reversable polyester slax.

I once was a "Label *****" but spending all my money on clothes got old.
I think designer morphs are awesome but I would rather produce a Killer Bee than buy one.

LOL, I was just trying to be funny.
In all seriousness though, you take one $6,500 snake and one $1,500 snake and you end up with a $38,000 snake? 1/4 isn't really that hard to hit. With a clutch of 6 your odds of producing at least one is over 80%. How do you really justify that price, when there has been no depreciation on your original capital expenditures and your only operating costs are some rubbermaid bins, cleaning supplies, heat, and a rat every week. That hardly adds up to the $30,000 of just that one bumblebee, nevermind the rest of the clutch. 4x the average price of the parents would be fair enough, at $16,000, but $38,000?

Not to criticize, but where the heck did you come up with that value. That doesn't work for a SINGLE morph in the BP world. Are albinos a $300 male het plus a $900 female het? Never seen a $1200 albino yet. Pair of Pied hets is $2500. Can you get a Pied for that? Nope. Super Pastel is certainly more than the asking price of $4,000 for a pair of Pastels. I know you are stating that that is what YOU would pay, but no morph in the world worksa like that.
Over pay now, and you'll STILL make money. More so in fact than if you wait. But to each their own.

Wrongo. You're odds are 25% no matter how many damn eggs you get. You could have 100 eggs, and your chance of producing one is still only 25% chance PER EGG.
If I flip a coin and get "heads", it doesn't mean that the next toss gives me a 75%, 93.725% or 63.24%, or EVEN a 51% chance of getting "tails". Exactly 50% chance FOREVER of getting either heads or tails. Same with the eggs; 25% FOREVER.

I am well aware that the odds remain 25% for each individual egg. For 6 eggs though, the probability of your producing one or more is 1 less the probability that you will produce none. In other words:
1 - (0.75)^6 = 0.822
Hence why I said your odds are over 80%.
What you're alluding to is the fallacy of applying conditional probability to independent trials, which is not what I'm doing at all.
By the way, I minored in math and took advanced probability and statistics, incorporating multivariable calculus and all that funky jazz :P

That's where the 2-3 years comes in... how much is it worth to you to have one now and not 2-3 years from now?
Those calculations were loosely based on cost plus markup, where the expected values of producing only one egg would result in the costs of the breeding stock. Even in this pessimistic scenario, you'd fully recoup the costs of your capital expenditures in the first year, something practically unheard of elsewhere in the business world. Instead, your breeding stock will have negligible depreciation, very low input costs (relative to the product i.e. offspring), and several times return each year. Now when the markup is several times cost like this, I think it's fair to say that the prices are much too high for what you're getting.
Also take into account that killer bees are pretty much the end of the line for that designer morph. You're not going to make super killer bees or anything, just the morphs that make up killer bees.

I agree with Ron, I would rather make one then buy one anyday. Buying one would totally take the fun out of breeding ball pythons??? JMHO
