Sweet snakes.

Is that PVC Jeff? What are they screwed into? I use PVC as hides, but laying down horizontaly, more like a paper towel roll.

Great looking animals, but may i ask what the screws are for, i have had some instances with snakes impailing themselves.

The screws are into 4-inch PVC pipe. This pipe holds the water dish, and the milks proceed to hide under that water dish. They can't really impale themselves on the screws as there's no way to get a running start to do such a thing. This screws are hidden under the water dish which the snakes have to literally squeeze under to get in contact with. Plus they are metal-tapping screws so they are blunt. The only time screws become a problem is when they are sticking out of the bottom or side and the snakes can fall onto them or if you hold the mouse near them and the snake strikes them in a miss. This is no different than a twig in nature. And when the snakes become too big to fit under the water dish, they'll never see the screws again.

See? The PVC pipe is holding the water dish and is buried under 2 inches of substrate.

Oh ok, just curious. The screws i use are very sharp at the end, and the first snake/enclosure i built, had a nail sticking out the side, and i lazily waited the next day to dull it down with a file, while an overnight impailing took place. Great looking snakes though, jon

That is a scary scenario Jon! Thanks for the concern though. You're just like me. I'm paranoid about that kind of stuff too!

Just lovely Jeff - they are looking great. Love that peachy color!

The little girl I got from you is on hopper mice or large pinky rats now too - she has the most wonderful personality for a hondo - a real sweetie.

I don't drill a hole no. They just find a little crack and they're in like Flynn.
