Mark and others, I am notoriously a cheapskate and rarely pay much for any snake That said, I paid $40. for the girl in the first pic as a hatchling. Of course that was from one of my best friends! My son and I pick his best one with the least black every year. However, I haven't paid any more than $50. for the others I have either. Realistically, the prices generally start at around $75. for average looking hatchlings these days at the biggest shows. I sell my AZ. (pyro pyro) mtn. kings for $40.-$50. Knobs are usually much faster on the "uptake", and begin feeding on pinks without as much trouble as the other ssp. in my exp. Thay also seem to breed a bit easier and lay more eggs. Mine never "shut down" in the fall/winter like the other pyros either. I remember not long ago when they commanded a high ($400.) price, so I had to wait for a break. There are some out there with very little black at all and some that are truly hypomelanistic -and the breeders want big $$ for some of them. Also, I have seen hybrids (X zonata, mexicana, and ruthveni) but to me they don't offer ANYTHING over the real deal. Even the albino (from ruthveni) hasn't shown me much. I am sure we'll see more of those soon however. Just get one of the pure ones and if you don't love it--send it my way-- I'll make room!

It does seem we are in a sort of pocket market up here. Different prices for everything, not such a bad thing if you're a breeder up here I guess. I don't like paying the full market value on anything myself either, gotta deal with friends or prey on the desperate LOL! Of course if you do things that way you need to be really patient about getting what you want. On the other hand if you simply must have something then sometimes you have to just bite the bullet and pay those outrageous Canadian prices. So it goes.

Checking on that other site I noticed a few '03s for around $75. and a pair of '02s for $200. so that's about where they are right now. Someone up there should import some and create a market for 'em.

They are no where near as cheap as the US prices quoted & I have my doubts about $30 US etc

Well, that is what I paid for mine . I admit it was a deal I couldn't turn down. The dealer was at a show starting to put his stuff away. I came up to his table, I picked her up and looked at her for a little, and he said he'd give her to me for $30!!! I took her before he changed his mind!!! LOL

The knoblochi are supposed to have the highest bandcount of any Mtn. King, making them the fancier more expensive ones

This is why I absolutely LOVE them!! That, and the incomplete banding gives them their awesome look!!
Mark: (CK) You didn't answer my first question yet!!! Are you going to breed your reduced this coming year, or do I have to wait another year? Lord knows you've been teasing me with them LONG enough!!! LOL

Ace, the ones I have won't go this year. I really should have brought them along a bit faster, but she's just not big enough to me and pyros in general take a while. I may just get her mom though in a deal from a friend. We'll see.... Besides.. how could I get rid of any?
