aaw im hopefully getting another rat from my breeding project at college! yay!
are you picking her up by the tail? ive never liked doing that with rats, i prefer to scoop em up or just grab them lol they tend to like me more! mine were horrified when i tried it! plus when they get bigger i think its wiser to scoop em up, that much weight bieng dangled on a tail is a bit scary! give her loads of cuddles and treats! and let her ride around on your shoulders! mine love that plus it will be easier for when you take babies from her, she will be nice and friendly! i think mine are over friendly... but thats not a bad thing!
good luck!

Ok.......well I dont think it should hurt them but yes i agree maybe scared her I was alittle cautious with pickin her up cause I just got her. But i just did and shes fine. I'm gonna buy some treats and try to take her on walks with me. I ALWAYS walk very long distances...i.e. to the PETSTORE Its about like 2 miles or more away!!!! I wonder if you can leash tame them? I doubt an adult maybe if you start with a baby. Probably using a guinea pig leash?? LOL ok do you have pics of yours? And was the person correct in saying he was a Hooded Rat?

i made a little leash once, and i found they are very good at wiggling out of them!!! lol. unless you have a very large male then i doubt the g-pig leash would be small enough to be honest... i looked at them tough...but i think they would much prefer to be free roaming! mine dont like to run around the floor or anything, they just run straight back to me!
yeah she's a hooded.
these are mine! the brown one is named ratty aka big ratty and the grey/white one is called baby aka little ratty! big ratty is a piggy and eats everything, little ratty is a picky eater, so she is smaller, but also 8 mths younger.. the oldest is about 2 i think^_^ little ratty doesnt like cuddles or bieng picked up!, prefers just to run around on your shoulders, big ratty is a big cuddler and gets kisses every morning! aaw theyre lovely/odd!

Hi Snakeman, from the 2nd pic it looks like a guy rat, just a word for a some good breeders....don't buy the biggest females you see, start with large or even med. only because even I sell off my retired "jumbo" females who no longer produce, and I don't have snakes big enough to eat them. If you buy med. you may have to wait a little longer for babies but at least you'll know how old they are. Check the sex of your rat again, it's just a guess but it looks like there's extras to me?? Good luck!! Rats are FUN

oh one of the best ways to breed rats is to set up a colony, a small one would be 1 male 3 females. Or like I have mine 5 males 15 females.
