Aggressive Cal-kings

Hey all you Cal-King people. In my experience I've noticed that the older Albinos, especially the striped ones, seem to be the ones with the biggest attitudes or the most bitey. Is this a genetic thing or something that comes with age or just coincidence? I also find the Striped Albino Babies take the longest to "chill out" as youngsters. Whats your take(s) on this thought? Well, I don't have any albino cal kings but of the 6 cal kings I do have, my striped is the b!tchiest of them all.

I agree fer sure about the albinos being "less laid back".

As for difference between the striped ones, I'm not so sure as Pearl (my badly striped albino)can be a real sweetie, more so than my banded albino. Either way mean snakes dun have a chance in our place as we try to make em all tame. So eventually most do tame down.

But yea albinos generally are more pissy (with most species). That's cause they're unable to see as well. Not sure about the stripes though, sorry.

Our albino is certainly more intense about everything than our normal phases have been, but we only have one albino. I have heard that from many other people though - and that when the albinos bite they don't just bite but they do a chewing thing that they don't give up on rather than just a strike and hold.

I find them to be more aggressive in a "can I eat you" type way with the older snakes so maybe it is the sight factor & it gets worse as they get older would make sense as their sight could be becoming poorer. The young ones are still "superfreaks" though & I have had ones that musk so bad they literally "bleed" out their butts. I have never had a "normal" do this, but have had various Albino babies do it in the past & I hate it when they do. Mark I.

I agree with the albino thing all of the albino's I've owned have been very nervous animals, but as for the stripe I have had lots of srtipes that were very calm.

Both my Albinos can get pretty nutty when first taken out of their tanks, but they both calm down real fast after a minute or two. Feeding time.. well that's a different story...psychotic pretty much sums it up..

I agree with the Psychotic Pretty at feeding time. Last night one of my females had herself so wrapped around her mouse so didn't even have a coil to spare. She bit her own tail first & then completely constricted the prey with literally every inch of her being. Even the last couple inches of her tail were even wrapped around the mouse 2 or 3 times. I took some pics but they turned out horrible. It's pretty cool to see all 4.5 ft coiled around something thats only 3 inches long though. Try & take that mouse back... not happening! Too cool to watch anyhow, I'm sorry I didn't get good pics. Mark I.

Well Mark, of the albinos I got off of you, the smaller one(the one that you labeled 'C') is still pretty jittery. The one that you had pictured in the other thread('A') has calmed down quite a bit. She still musks half the time, but no more strikes, and no more poops(phew...). Of the 5, the coatal striped male is easily the best behaved, but they are all slowly coming around. Actually, the one that seems most high-strung is the Hi Yellow female...

My 2 year old banded male is totally laid back, hopefully they all turn out that way(fingers crossed)...

The little stripped that you gave me for my class is great.May be from the daily handling.The boy that feeds it can put a pinkie in his hand and have the little albino slither right into his and and take the pinkie it's pretty cool.I guess there is an exception to every rule.

Well, I didn't think of it until now but my amel corn is by far the most aggressive of all my corns. Not a cal king, but still an albino...

My Cal King was agressive, but now that she's put onsome size and i've learned the most comfortable time for her to be handled, she is as tame as a ball python. No musking no biting, not too much movement, just a tight wrap around the hand.

I used to get nailed/musked when I handled her in the day or night. I figured out that if i handle her between 6-8pm she is extremely calm. I am sure that the time of day you handle your snake(s) plays a key role in how they act and how they tame down.

In my experience time of day has had nothing to do with it other than the snakes are more active at night. Being close to feeding time seems to be the key factor on aggressiveness at my house, with the exception of one female who always tries to eat me no matter how much she has had to eat already. As far as the babies go they all seem to be the same in the beginning, poopy little suckers who think their tough, but depending on the specimen & time spent most settle down quite well. There are some that stay little freaks no matter what though it seems. I do find that the "normals" chill out much faster though. Mark I.
