I noticed a spot on my ball pythons head and a line on his underside that looked like scale rot. The humidity is around 70%. I am not home most of the day so I bought an auto mister. I have heard that auto misters can cause scale rot.
Scale rot occurs not only in wet substrate but it has to be prolonged periods of time as well as dirty substrate. It doesn't usually happen from simply a wet substrate, although I bet it could but a REALLY long time of it.
What substrate do you use? It's possible it's discolouration from the wet substrate and not scale rot.
