Exclamation New snake, first time owner!

Hey guys! My significant other bought me an Albino, striped, motley female cornsnake! I really want to give Safia (her name) the best life possible and was wondering if I can get tips and tricks from y'all!? I also will provide pictures of her current terrarium so y'all can judge if it's good enough, safe, ect.

Feel free to email me with any advice, comments or tips&tricks. Thank youuuu!!!

Welcome to the forum! All I can say is that you should have an undertank heater controlled by a thermostat.

Also, I was wondering what those folks said you should feed Safia and when.

Re: New snake, first time owner!

Hello! Welcome to the forum and the wonderful world of snake keeping.

There are a few things standing out to me...
- I don't see a thermostat probe anywhere. ALL heat sources should be regulated by a thermostat.
- Those analog thermometers and hygrometers are unfortunately junk. They are wildly inaccurate (up to 15% and 15 degrees). I suggest getting digitals. I use Accurite brand. I have 2 in each enclosure. You can get them from Wal-Mart for about $10
- there should be multiple hides. 1 on the warm end and one on the cool end.
- Those half log hides are unfortunately no good. You want single entry cave style hides.

Some things to focus on are husbandry and security. Snake's thrive with the right setups and yours looks ok, but could be better.

Feel free to ask questions, that's what we're here for

I use a half log but I have it buried in my substrate so it’s more like a cave than a tunnel
