Hello everyone, I will be picking up a Nile Monitor and just wanted to inquire about how everyone has cared for theirs over the years.
I have a 6x4x32'' enclosure ready for it to grow up in, and everything else. I am just use to reading a lot of conflict info about these guys regarding the right basking temp and substrate, humidity etc. I have a few pretty good resources that I've read through the past few months but wanted to get first hand recommendations from people who keep these majestic animals.
Your thoughts on:
Substrate composition (know it should be minimum 2 feet deep)
Basking temp
UVB lights or not
Humidity range
Feeding rotation (insects, then eggs, then whole prey or just stick to insects dusted and gut loaded until Nile is full grown)
Size of water bowl/swimming area
Anything else you can think of really. I am asking this all because I need to know if I need to change anything.
Final stones being put in place before bringing my buddy home.
Thanks!!!
