Help Please!

i recently put all of my snakes on white paper towel to monitor for mites and today i noticed specks of blood in my BP's cage on the paper towel. He is male, about 7 years old. He was not the one who had mites in the first place and there is no sign of mites in his cage. I dont see any blood on his actual body and his face/nose seems normal. I dont understand what could be wrong, any help would be appreciated.

Re: Help Please!

Has he eaten in the cage recently? Could it be blood from a feeder? Notice anything strange in his poop or urates?

Re: Help Please!

No, he hasn't fed in over a week and I havent noticed anythign strange in his feces of urates. Im thinking he might have pushed up on his screen top too much, but if that were the case i was expecting to notice blood or scratches on his nose and there wasnt.

Re: Help Please!

No idea. Could definitely be from blood engorged mites. Keep your eye out for other signs of mites and try not to worry since nothing else is out of sorts.

Re: Help Please!

I agree with Andy here, when I noticed my ball python had mites I "popped" one to see what it was initially...and it was full of blood...wonder if he's not smushing the mites into the paper towel and popping them?
